About the F1 in Schools Program
The F1 in Schools Challenge is an international competition that promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, otherwise known as STEM. The competition challenges teams of 3-6 students to design, market, manufacture, and race a miniature F1 car. The challenge has encompassed over 20 million students from ages 9-19 years globally, and is supported by Formula One Management, Re-Engineering Australia Foundation, Visual Connections and the Australian Department of Defence.
Our Vision - Collaboration to Innovation
Fusion Racing was inspired by teamwork shown in all aspects of life and was inspired to focus on creating awareness around teamwork and collaboration skills. Hence our name 'Fusion' Racing, representing that we have united as single members to form a combined team. Our Ethos - Collaboration to Innovation - was created to outline our team objectives. We strive to improve the collaboration and teamwork skills in our society, and hope by setting an example we can display the efficiency of collaboration. Our Vision represents exactly what we strive for, collaborating to innovate, and to become better versions of ourselves as a team.
Our Team
Our team of four Haileybury students work together closely to bring Fusion Racing to life. If any of us were to leave the team, we would have no hopes of making it to competition stage. Therefore, it is important that we show teamwork and understand each others role intricately. Teamwork and collaboration is essential in this program, and our team has all the necessary skills to co-operate together successfully. Meet our wonderful team!
Locklyn Luu
Team Manager and Graphic Designer
As the team manager, Locklyn's role is to keep us in line and propel us forward to allow ourselves to do what's best for our team. He monitors all our work and sets us deadlines to make sure that we will always be on the ball. As well as managing the team, Locklyn designs all aspects of the project. By using design and marketing software such as Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Publisher, Locklyn takes tedious care to ensure every detail in our branding. He has designed our logo, portfolio, website, uniform, and the pit display. It is his task to ensure all branding elements of the project are updated and up to standard.
Kah Onn Mak
Marketing Manager
It is Kah Onn's job to market and promote our team. He works closely with Locklyn to manage the marketing and branding aspect of Fusion Racing. He is also responsible for helping Fusion Racing have all the financial necessities to operate successfully. This incorporates a variety of tasks, including sponsorship enquiries and budgeting.
William Shen
Manufacturer
William manufactures the car through a rigorous process including sanding, painting, cutting, and refining. He also ensures that our car is compliant with all regulations and is ready for competition. William has put an abundance of effort to research and determine which materials would produce the best results for our car.
Joshua Ong
Main Engineer
Joshua's job is to design our car. He has a superb knowledge of engineering and CAD/CAM. Joshua is responsible for making our aerodynamic to ensure that it will race to the best of its ability. He spends hours weekly tweaking and making small but effective adjustments to ensure the success of our design. He has successfully tested, analysed, evaluated, and improved many prototypes to achieve this.
